Total Dissolved Solids
Municipal waters generally have dissolved solids under 500 mg/l since they required to by law. However private wells may legally have up to 1000 mg/l of total dissolved solids. Older private wells which have been in place for some time may have higher levels of dissolved solids. In addition, wells which are located within close proximity to the ocean may have higher levels due to salt water intrusion. Treatment has been traditionally confined to Whole house reverse osmosis. However under certain circumstances it may be possible to use the newer electro-deionization process system currently entering the market place.
